Studio

A multidisciplinary practice

Studio One brings architecture, structural engineering, civil engineering, and project management together in a single team, working on projects across New Zealand in education, residential, civic, commercial and infrastructure sectors.
Founding Story

Studio One was founded in Wellington to close the gap between the drawing board and the building site.

We had seen the same problem too many times: good designs falling over in delivery, consultants handing across drawings and walking away, and buildability treated as someone else’s problem. So we structured the practice differently.

Architecture, structural engineering, and project management sit under one roof, working as one team from the first sketch, so decisions get made with the whole picture in view rather than passed between firms.

The idea resonated. Fifty projects came through in our first year, spanning education, residential, and modular work across the Wellington region. That momentum let us grow the team and add civil engineering, completing the picture from feasibility through to delivery. Our deep involvement in modular and offsite construction keeps us close to the realities of manufacture and site, which sharpens everything we draw.

Today Studio One is a genuinely integrated practice with a simple test for every detail: would we be willing to build it?

Built x Design.
