Project Description
At South End School in Wellington, Studio One delivered architecture and structural engineering for a double classroom block along with the deck and hardscaping that ground the building in its site. Delivered through offsite construction, the classroom block arrived to site substantially complete, keeping time on the ground short and the school day largely undisturbed.
As with all of the practice's education work, the design and engineering were developed together from the outset, so details were resolved once, coordination issues were caught early, and the school received a teaching space that works as well in use as it did on paper.
